Sports Outreach LA
Church Sports that Win
1 Corinthians 9:22

Purpose
SOLA seeks to train, equip, and encourage local churches to use all aspects of sports for outreach, service and ministry in their communities.

Statement of Faith
We believe the Bible to be inspired, the only infallible authoritative Word of God.
We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential through faith in Christ alone.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by Whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the saved unto the resurrection of life and the lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

History
Sports Outreach Los Angeles was founded in 1992 by Sports Outreach America to rally churches around the ministry opportunities surrounding the Men's World Cup of Soccer. Since that time, God has opened the doors for SOLA to initiate and/or coordinate outreach efforts in connection with over 95 major sporting events in Southern California.
The Run To Win Outreach surrounding the LA Marathon is one such event outreach partnership.  There are many opportunities for involvement in RTW, at the LA Marathon and at other running events in Southern California.
For five years SOLA hosted an annual Sports Ministry Conference to train Christians from local churches in how to incorporate sports into their ministry efforts effectively.  In 2002, SOLA launched the Sports Outreach Leadership Development (SOLD) Program to help train and equip local churches to develop effective sports outreach ministries.
Under the banner of SportsPlus, SOLA, in partnership with Here's Life Inner-City, helped local churches run the sports programming at their after-school clubs from 1996 - 2001.

In 1997, the Coaches of Influence ministry was birthed.  In 2005 COIN grew to the place where it was launched as a separate ministry.  Steve Quatro, SOLA Executive Director serves on the COIN Board of Directors.  Today, over 600 Southern California high school, college and pro coaches are part of the growing COIN ministry.  Steve Quatro serves on the COIN Board of Directors.

SOLA, a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, is funded by the generous donations of its supporters.
